This recent project was a truly standout one: a huge, traditional partner’s desk that once belonged to my client’s father, a lawyer. Solid, imposing, and full of character, it had clearly been a centrepiece in its time. But like many pieces of its era, it was finished in a deep red varnish - rich and glossy, but simply not aligned with my client’s vision for her contemporary office space. She didn’t want to lose the desk. She just needed it to feel like hers.

Recently, I had the pleasure of restoring an unbelievably beautiful antique monk’s bench with historical provenance - a piece originally crafted by Walter Carter for Harrods Ltd, a maker with roots in early 20th-century British furniture history.

At That Flipping Studio, I live for transformation stories—and this one starts with a house move, a favour from a friend, and a bench that was hiding some serious potential. When I first laid eyes on this church pew-style bench, it was buried under multiple thick layers of white paint. The structure was solid, the shape had charm, and best of all—it had a lift-up seat with hidden storage. But it needed love. A lot of it.

Because creativity doesn’t like to sit still. I wanted to challenge myself to push the boundaries of design, keep things fresh, and give you something to look forward to week after week. Whether it's a small homeware piece or something a little bolder, each product reflects the unique, industrial-luxe aesthetic that That Flipping Studio is known for.
