A Workshop Summer Break… and a BIG Project Waiting for Me

Well, it’s been a little quieter around the workshop than usual…
And for once, that was completely intentional!
Over the summer holidays, I decided to take a proper little break from the workshop and make the most of some precious family time. The kids were off school, so instead of spending every spare minute covered in sawdust, paint and whatever mystery substance I’d managed to get on myself that day, I stepped away from the tools and spent some much-needed time with them.
We’ve had holidays, days out, plenty of food, lots of laughs and all the usual summer chaos that comes with having kids at home.
A different kind of project
I’ve also been putting some serious focus into another project of mine — me.
I’ve set myself a new bodybuilding goal, which has meant making time for training, getting my head around nutrition and generally trying to become the strongest, fittest version of myself I can be.
It’s been a bit of a change from wrestling with wardrobes and wrestling even more with stubborn drawers, but I’m really enjoying the challenge.
Of course, there’s only so much time in the day, and something had to give for a while. The workshop got a little break while I concentrated on family, holidays and my new goal.
But now… the kids are back at school, so I'm back in the workshop.
And I've got a BIG one waiting…
My current project is a bit of a monster.
I’m working on a huuuuge chest of drawers, complete with an equally huge mirror.
This one is definitely not going to be a quick little upcycle!
There’s plenty still to do, and I’m looking forward to getting the tools back out, getting covered in dust again and, most importantly, seeing this rather enormous piece finally come together.
After a summer away from the workshop, I think I’m more than ready for it.
So, if you’ve been wondering where I’ve disappeared to…
Now you know!
Watch this space.
